Many people use a calculator to “sanity check” an offer. That’s reasonable. The problem is that most calculators can’t properly account for details that matter in suburban Illinois disputes, such as:
- Whether the dog was properly restrained when people were entering or passing a property
- Whether the incident occurred in a high-traffic routine area**—like near drop-offs, shared sidewalks, or places where visitors aren’t expecting danger**
- How quickly you sought treatment and whether follow-up care is documented
- Consistency between what happened and what the medical narrative describes
If any of those details are unclear, a calculator’s “range” may be far broader than what the evidence can realistically support.
