Most online estimators work the same way: you enter a few facts about the incident and injury, and the tool outputs a rough damages range.
In real dog bite claims, that range can be off when:
- Liability is disputed (for example, whether the dog was restrained, whether the owner had warning signs, or whether the bite happened during normal activity).
- Medical documentation doesn’t match the story (common when follow-up care is delayed or records are incomplete).
- Insurance pressures you to settle early—before you know whether the wound will require additional treatment.
In other words: the calculator can help you ask better questions, but it can’t evaluate the specific evidence that Idaho adjusters and insurers focus on.
