Online tools are built to estimate based on generalized categories. In real dog bite claims, the outcome often turns on details that calculators typically treat as optional or “unknown,” such as:
- Whether the incident was captured by nearby cameras (common around busy retail corridors and public gathering areas)
- Whether the dog was properly restrained at the time of the bite
- How quickly medical care was sought and how clearly the records describe the mechanism of injury
- Whether the defense argues the bite was provoked or that the injury description doesn’t match treatment notes
A “reasonable estimate” becomes much less reliable if any of those pieces are missing—or if your initial statement to an insurer doesn’t align with the medical narrative.
