Most online tools estimate a range by sorting injuries into categories and applying broad assumptions. That can be helpful when you’re trying to get your bearings after a frightening event.
But a calculator can’t reliably account for the parts that typically decide outcomes in real dog bite claims in California, such as:
- whether the dog owner knew (or reasonably should have known) about prior aggressive behavior
- how clearly your medical records connect the bite to your symptoms and treatment
- whether there are photos/video/witness accounts from the moment of the incident
- how insurers challenge causation, severity, or the timing of your recovery
In other words, the tool can inform your questions—it shouldn’t be treated like a promise.
