People often enter an incident date, describe the wound, and answer a few questions—then receive a range. In real life, that range can shift dramatically depending on how the claim is built.
In California, insurers commonly focus on whether:
- the dog’s owner can be linked to the incident,
- the injury documentation supports the severity,
- the medical treatment timeline matches the reported harm,
- and the damages are supported with records—not just statements.
A calculator can’t verify those pieces. It may also miss how quickly you sought care, whether photos were taken, or whether a witness statement was obtained while memories were fresh.
