Not every airbag issue is obvious immediately. After a collision—especially on routes where drivers commonly encounter sudden stops or merge traffic—review the details while they’re still fresh.
Common indicators include:
- The crash severity suggests the airbag should have deployed, but it did not
- The airbag deployed, but the injury pattern doesn’t match what you’d expect from a properly functioning restraint
- You received a dashboard warning light after the crash or during repair
- The repair shop replaced airbag components (inflator, module, sensor-related parts) due to a suspected malfunction
- You later received a recall notice tied to the vehicle’s airbag system
If any of those points apply, don’t assume the problem is “just part of the accident.” Treat it like a safety failure that should be evaluated.
