Crush cases often depend on short windows of proof. In New Jersey, delays can make it harder to obtain surveillance footage, maintenance records, witness statements, and incident logs—especially when a facility is busy or equipment is moved.
What to do in the first 24–72 hours (if you can):
- Get medical care and keep every follow-up appointment.
- Request a copy of the incident report number and any workplace paperwork you receive.
- Photograph the scene if it’s safe (guards, lockout/tagout indicators, pinning points, labeling, barriers).
- Write down what you remember—timing, tasks, what equipment was running, and who was present.
- Tell your lawyer what insurers/employers are asking for, before you give extra statements.
