The actions you take right after an accident can make or break whether your claim stays strong.
- Report it clearly and consistently. If you’re an employee, make sure the injury is documented according to your employer’s process. If you’re a subcontractor or visitor, ask for an incident report copy.
- Document the scene while it’s still there. In Glasgow, hazards can be cleared quickly—debris hauled away, barricades moved, and access roads reconfigured. Take photos/videos of:
- the exact location and lighting/visibility,
- trip hazards, uneven surfaces, or missing covers,
- fall protection or guardrails (if applicable),
- equipment near the work area,
- signage, cones, or traffic-control measures.
- Get medical care the same day whenever possible. Even if you think it’s minor, construction injuries can worsen over time.
- Be careful with statements. Insurance representatives may ask questions early. Don’t guess. Don’t minimize. Consider speaking with a lawyer before giving a detailed recorded statement.
