In many burn cases we see, the insurance timeline starts quickly—especially when the injury happened at home, at a rental property, or at a workplace with regular shift turnover. Adjusters may contact you soon after treatment, request statements, and encourage early resolution.
That pressure is understandable, but it can be risky for burn victims because:
- Burns can worsen or declare deeper layers after the initial incident.
- Scarring, nerve sensitivity, and range-of-motion issues may not fully show up until later treatment.
- If you’re commuting for work or school (even short distances), missed work and modified duties need to be documented clearly.
If you’re in the middle of recovery, the best strategy is usually to keep treatment consistent, document losses, and avoid saying things that could be used to minimize the severity.
