In a smaller community like Hewitt, many burn cases begin with a clear story—grease splatter from cooking, a hot-water or heater issue, an electrical malfunction, a workplace steam or hot-surface incident, or an accident involving cleaning chemicals.
But settlement value usually depends on a question insurers keep asking: Does the medical record line up with the way the burn occurred?
A calculator can’t verify that:
- the burn pattern matches the mechanism (thermal vs. chemical vs. contact)
- the severity reported in the ER is consistent with later visits
- the timeline of worsening, treatment, and follow-ups is medically explained
That “match” is one reason two people with similar-looking injuries can end up with very different outcomes.
