In smaller communities, investigators may contact you quickly—especially when the incident occurred at a residence, a local business, or a job site. Insurance adjusters may ask for early statements, photos, or “whatever records you have.”
That can be risky if you’re still dealing with pain, wound care, or follow-up appointments. Burn injuries can worsen as tissue damage declares itself, and scarring or nerve sensitivity may not be fully apparent right away. An online calculator can’t see that evolution.
What you can do now: keep a tight record of dates and treatment locations (ER/urgent care visits, burn specialist follow-ups, physical therapy, prescriptions, and any work restrictions). That timeline is often the backbone of credibility in negotiations.
