Most AI estimates work by using general patterns. That can be useful for budgeting your next steps, but burn cases don’t behave like spreadsheets.
In Michigan, insurers typically focus on whether the burn’s documented treatment matches the claimed mechanism (for example: scald vs. chemical exposure vs. electrical injury), and whether the records support the timeline and severity. A calculator can’t review:
- hospital discharge summaries and operative reports
- burn-depth documentation and follow-up specialist notes
- therapy/rehab recommendations tied to function
- photographs showing progression (or improvement) over time
So if an online tool gives you a range that feels too low or too high, it’s often because it’s operating on assumptions—not your specific medical course.
