In many burn claims, the early days matter. Not because you have to “prove” everything immediately—but because insurers frequently look for consistency.
For example, if you delayed treatment because you thought the burn was “minor,” or you couldn’t get to follow-up care due to work or transportation, that doesn’t automatically defeat your case. Still, it can create questions about severity and causation. In Illinois, where claims are handled under negligence principles and insurance investigations can be aggressive, gaps in documentation can lead to disputes over:
- whether the burn worsened after the incident
- whether symptoms match the reported cause
- whether future scarring or limitations are supported by medical records
A calculator can’t evaluate those evidentiary issues. A lawyer can.
