Many insurance adjusters look for reasons to limit payouts—especially before a burn’s full impact is clear. In burn cases, that can happen because:
- Healing is not linear. A burn that looks manageable at first may later require additional treatment for scarring, nerve sensitivity, or restricted motion.
- Documentation gaps happen fast. Busy households, work schedules, and follow-up delays can lead to missing records—something insurers may treat as “less severe” than your lived experience.
- Statements are easy to misunderstand. If you give an early recorded statement, minor wording issues can become leverage for the defense.
If you used an online tool and the number feels low, that doesn’t automatically mean your claim is weak. It may mean the tool didn’t account for what your records will eventually show.
