The early choices you make can affect how strongly your injury and damages are connected to the incident.
- Get evaluated promptly. Even if the pain seems “manageable,” fractures can worsen with delayed treatment—especially in cold-weather slip incidents where people may keep moving on the injury.
- Write down the timeline while it’s fresh. Note the date, time, location, what you were doing, and what you remember about how the injury happened.
- Preserve evidence while it’s available. If your injury involved a slippery surface, take photos of the area (and any warnings/closures). If it was a crash, preserve dashcam/video if you have it.
- Keep all medical paperwork. X-ray/CT results, visit notes, discharge instructions, follow-up orders, work restrictions—these documents matter when insurers challenge causation.
If you’ve already spoken to an adjuster, don’t panic. Contacting counsel can help you avoid statements that unintentionally weaken your claim.
