After a crash, the details get harder to reconstruct quickly—witnesses move on, vehicles get repaired, and surveillance footage may be overwritten.
Right away:
- Get medical care (urgent care, ER, or an evaluation with documentation). Even if you feel “mostly okay,” delayed symptoms are common.
- Capture the scene if you can: intersection layout, lane position, traffic signals, skid marks/road debris, and vehicle placement.
- Write down the ride details: your direction of travel, what you saw from the driver’s perspective, and the exact sequence of events you remember.
Be cautious with insurance calls. In Oklahoma, recorded statements can be used to challenge causation or fault. If an adjuster contacts you early, it’s usually smarter to pause and get guidance first.
