Normal is a commuter hub, and that shows up in bicycle crash patterns:
- Right-turn and left-turn conflicts at intersections where drivers may be watching cross-traffic or turning lanes.
- Construction and resurfacing work that narrows lanes, changes bike routing, or shifts curb lines and sightlines.
- Delivery and service vehicles near businesses and campuses, where drivers may stop, merge, or re-enter traffic quickly.
- Night and early-morning visibility issues, especially around commuting routes when lighting and reflective markings aren’t consistent.
Even when you did everything you could as a cyclist, the other side may claim you were speeding, weaving, or positioned unsafely. Your job after a crash is not to argue on the spot—it’s to build a record that supports your version of events.
